About Jan Schulte Founder, Exponential Potential Dyscalculia Tutoring

Jan Schulte is a dyscalculia specialist and the founder of Exponential Potential Dyscalculia Tutoring. Her path to specialization began at home, watching her own daughter struggle with dyscalculia — and knowing there had to be a better approach. She holds certification through Dyscalculia Services and additional Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Math training, and has built a team of specialized tutors committed to the same evidence-based, multisensory approach.

This guide is designed to be clear, accessible, and practical — so you can understand what your child is navigating and take confident next steps, even if you are just beginning to piece the picture together.

Questions parents ask

Is this guide right for our family?

Short answer: If your child has been diagnosed with one learning difference and you have wondered whether something else might also be going on, this guide was written for you. It is also for families who are just beginning to suspect that math difficulties have a separate explanation from the learning difference they already know about.

Is this guide a substitute for a formal diagnosis?

No. This guide is an educational resource designed to help parents understand how learning differences interact. Only a qualified neuropsychologist or educational psychologist can make a formal diagnosis. If you suspect multiple learning differences, the guide will point you toward the right next steps.

What age range is this most helpful for?

The information in this guide applies across a wide range of ages. Learning differences do not resolve with age, and co-occurring differences are relevant whether your child is in early elementary school, middle school, high school, or college.

Will this only be useful if my child definitely has dyscalculia?

Not at all. This guide is equally useful for families who have a dyslexia, ADHD, or dysgraphia diagnosis and are wondering whether dyscalculia may also be part of the picture. It is written for any family navigating more than one learning difference.
